About Me
Improving Your Life Through Education

My parents were poor when I was a kid, and they explained that I might not have the same opportunities as other kids. However, I wanted to prove them wrong, so I tried really hard to succeed in school. By the time I was almost done with high school, I had secured a great scholarship at a local university. Those college years taught me a lot about how the world works, and it made it possible for me to succeed later in life. This blog is all about improving your life through education, so that you can see the world the way that you want to see it.

Accounting is a field where jobs will always be needed, primarily because it is a fundamental need for every type of business. It is needed by retail stores, restaurants, insurance firms, and every other industry you can think of, and it is used to track all types of financial information. It is used for calculating paychecks, paying bills, and recording sales. It is also used for tax purposes and for many other reasons.

It Doesn't Limit You To Just One Job

The second reason to consider an accounting career is all the potential jobs you could get with this type of degree. Accounting is not a field that has job one type of job opening. Instead, an accounting degree is actually quite versatile. Here are some of the types of jobs you may be able to get with an accounting degree:

  • Public accountant – A public accountant typically works for a company and handles all its financial information. This can include recording daily transactions, creating financial reports at the end of the month, and preparing the tax returns each year.
  • Certified public accountant (CPA) – A CPA is a person that typically works out of a private office. CPAs primarily help people file their income tax returns, but they can also offer bookkeeping services for companies.
  • Auditor – Auditing is a process used to determine if companies are recording their transactions properly, and all large businesses must get annual audits. With this career, you could spend time traveling to various companies, which is a nice job if you get tired of sitting in the same office every day of the week.
  • Forensic accounting – Companies hire forensic accountants when they suspect fraud. A forensic accountant often works on criminal cases and may need to testify in court from time to time.

There are dozens of other types of accounting jobs you can get but these are some of the options.

You Can Earn A Good Living

Finally, you could earn a good living with an accounting degree. More experienced accounting jobs pay better than entry-level jobs; however, even entry level jobs have decent income. For example, in 2013 an entry-level auditing job paid an annual income of $52,750 to $77,000. As you build experience in this field, your potential for earning more may get easier.
